Dream Poem

Dreams are sucked into here,
An item originated from Indians.
Its traditional appearance inspires.
The magical presence lingers
And the creative design
Is decorative.

This is Just to Say Poem

This is just to say
I have corrected
the irrelevance
that was in
the conversation

and which
you were probably saving
for your own

Forgive me
it was satisfying
so justified
and so peaceful

How To Kill Caesar

If I were the leader behind the mission to kill Julius Caesar, my plot would go something like this. First, the group of people that has joined me to kill Caesar and I would treat Caesar as if nothing were going to happen to him. Then, we would get him to come to the senate house where he will be murdered. I would wait right before he was crowned to stab him in a lethal location on his body. While this happened, I would get my followers to detain Antony to prevent him from defending Caesar. After Caesar is dead, I would probably make a public speech to all the witnesses justifying the whole ordeal.

"Caged Bird"

Melinda in the story Speak can relate to the bird in the poem "Caged Bird" very well. Melinda feels as if she is weighed down by her secret, kind of like the caged bird in the story felt as if he was weighed down because its feet were tied down. Melinda tries to speak up (like the Caged bird) but fails to do so because it is afraid of what may happen. Melinda differs from the caged bird because she finally ends up speaking out and becomes a "free bird". The caged bird, on the other hand, remains caged. In the poem the author states that the caged bird can't see through its bars of rage. I think this can relate to Melinda because she has so many bottled-up feelings of what happened to her it deprives her of her social life.

Hegemony

There hasn't been too many situations where I can say I've been hegemonized by a teacher. Although, I can say I've dealt with hegemony with other Christians. Sometimes I feel as if they try to dominate over me when they see I do not live the same as they do. I feel judged and shut down when they realize I may not have the same beliefs as they do. I believe that I should be able to express my beliefs without being belittled or judged.

Self-Expression

I express myself through many things. The way I dress reflects my personality. I also like expressing myself through writing. Also, art is one of my favorite ways to convey my personality and feelings. Another way I express my personality is through my sense of humor.

Connecting with Hester

One time me and my family went camping. I was probably about 5 years old if not younger. I went bike riding with some friends and when I came back to my camper my family wasn't there. I was trying to get in touch with my mom through the walkie talkie and she gave me direction to where she was at. I spent a few hours wandering around the campsite to find her. It was nighttime before I finally went to somebody's camper and asked them to help me find my mom. This is definitely a time where I felt lonely.

Literary Character Valentine's Day Card

Conversation Hearts Poem

Sugar is what you taste like
And I think you're hot stuff.
I bought you Mike and Ike,
You'll love it, sholl 'nuff.

Be mine, that would be sweet.
You should really text me!
Before you get beat.
Come on, you're hot and I think we both agree.

Role of Puritan Men

The father of the household educates the children spiritually and morally. The husband is the spiritual head of the household. He also works on a farm because his family depended on it. If he didn’t work on a farm he fished or built ships depending on his location. The wives made important decisions with the consent of their husbands. Puritan men wore black clothes and kept their hair short. The women were meant to be dominated by a male figure.

The Devil and Tom Walker

Tom Walker could be considered a very unfaithful man. Him and his spouse both cheat each other. He obtains the title of a liar. Tom is a very greedy person. So much so that he sold his soul to the Devil one day so that he would be promised gold. Tom did not care about his wife. He let her try to bargain with the Devil before he did, probably knowing she would try to argue with the Devil. This caused her death, and once again Tom portrays his greediness by not grieving for his dead wife but instead worries about the values she might've left behind. Tom agrees to be a broker in the nearby town and is merciless. Tom becomes a hypocrite as he decides to start attending church so that he might not be damned to hell, which he is anyways.

My Totem Pole

For my totem pole, I used the otter as the base of pole because I would consider myself a very loyal, trustworthy person. Next, I used a cougar because I could say that I am a responsible person. After that I used a beaver because I am a hard worker and I'm always determined. I used the seal next because I like everything in a special order and I hate clutter. Finally, on the top of my totem pole I used the thunderbird because most of the time I tend to be the leader instead of a follower.
